WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT KENYA?
Geographically interesting and culturally diverse, Kenya is undoubtedly home to some of the best safari opportunities that Africa has to offer. The best wildlife viewing months in Kenya are during the Dry Season from late June to October. During this time, you can experience two dramatic wildlife experiences in Kenya viewing both the wildebeest crossings in the Masai Mara and humpback whale migration on the coast, all in one trip!
THE WILDEBEEST MIGRATION
We’d highly recommend a stay at Ol Seki Hemingways Mara, a luxurious tented camp located in the Naboisho Conservancy, which borders the Masai Mara Reserve. This camp offers an ideal base from which to view the wildebeest migration which usually reaches the Mara in July and remains until October when they move back to the Serengeti in Tanzania. Ol Seki Hemingways Mara camp is both family friendly and wonderfully romantic in equal measure and when combined with a stay at the coast, offers an ideal bush and beach migration safari.
THE HUMPBACK WHALE MIGRATION
The best time to visit Kenya for the humpback whale watching excursions is during the months of June to September. We’d recommend a stay at Hemingways Watamu, a luxury 5 star boutique beach hotel located in the middle of the pristine Watamu Marine National Park on the Indian Ocean. Here you are perfectly placed to see the migration of the majestic humpback whales along the coast of East Africa. Truly a sight to behold.
7 Night Double Migration Safari is available, July – September 2019. This 7 night / 8 day trip includes three nights at Ol Seki Hemingways Mara (full board including house drinks plus one shared vehicle with one full day in the park), four nights at Hemingways Watamu in an Ocean View room (B&B basis including two whale watching trips and one snorkeling trip), domestic flights (via Nairobi) and airport transfers.
