In March this year, Outposts Travel Africa organised a tailor-made itinerary to South Africa for Mr & Mrs M to celebrate a special birthday. We had previously arranged several holidays in Africa for Mrs M’s daughter so wanted to live up to expectations and create a wonderful holiday for this couple to remember incorporating lots of good food, wine, adventure, wildlife and scenery.
We put together a program which began with an exploration of Cape Town and its surrounds and included several guided tours in and around the area to orientate them. They then flew to Port Elizabeth for a safari in Amakhala Game Reserve located in South Africa’s malaria-free Eastern Cape. We designed a self-drive itinerary which took them from Port Elizabeth area along the Garden Route staying in well-located guesthouses and B&B’s in Plettenberg Bay, Wilderness, Swellendam and the Winelands back towards to Cape Town over the course of 3 weeks. We had to share some of their feedback with you:
"Thank you so very much for your wonderful organization of our truly unforgettable trip to South Africa! Totally 'spot on' from the very beginning we adored Cape Town and the gorgeous More Quarters Apartments which were perfect for us.
Cape Fusion Tours with the lovely Anine were fantastic. The Peninsula and of course the super Cape Town Eats Tour; unmissable. The lively buzz of Camps Bay with all the scrumptious eatery's and the fabulous views from Ocean View House were gorgeous!
The Township Tour with Gladstone was an absolute must, extremely enlightening and of course to be followed by our trip to Robben Island. A very thought provoking day.
Amakhala and the lovely Hlosi Game Lodge were absolutely superb, a truly fabulous experience. We had a brilliant guide called Lucky and true to his name our drives were extremely successful!! All the Big 5 were espied and photographed many times. Awesome!
Driving the Garden Route to Plettenberg was so beautiful and we just loved the gorgeous scenery. We had to stop off to do a Bungee jump! Robberg Beach Lodge and Plettenberg were both beautiful but you were quite right about Knysna. We totally fell in love with Wilderness. That fantastic wild beach and the sweet little town were perfect.
Swellendam and the De Kloof Luxury Estate proved to be a great base for exploration and we had some super adventures around there. The hotel and staff were wonderful.
We had a countryside drive to Franschhoek, a beautiful town, and of course met up with the wonderful Anine and Cape Fusion organised yet another brilliant tour. The wine tasting, beer tasting and a stroll around Stellenbosch culminating with a fabulous lunch at a fantastic table and yet more birthday treats at the gorgeous Graff Estate. What an amazing end DD to our truly fantastic trip; to have three magical days at the WONDERFUL Bartholomeus Klip. Paradise!
Everything in this stunningly beautiful place is unforgettable. A million thankyou's DD."
