Planet Baobab - The funkiest camp in the Kalahari!

April 08 2016

The new Planet Baobab movie is out - WATCH ABOVE!

Planet Baobab is located just north of the Makgadikgadi National Park area in north-central Botswana, some 200km east of Maun. Planet Baobab is a traditionally styled Kalanga village shaded by enormous baobab trees. The accommodation is truly original, reflecting the traditional building methods of the original inhabitants of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Planet Baobab is home to the biggest pool in the Kalahari; comfortable Bakalanga huts with en suite bathrooms and a funky Afro-chic bar & restaurant with scrumptious pan-African dishes.

  • Get up close and personal with super-friendly habituated meerkats;
  • Tour the local village and learn about Botswana culture;
  • Visit a local cattle post and enjoy a delicious traditional lunch;
  • Visit Nxai Xini Pan to seek out ancient stone tools and fossils;
  • Visit the famous Green’s Baobab, walk through a baobab forest and much much more!

Planet Baobab’s Kalahari Surf Club adds a new dimension to surfing. You won’t find 10-foot waves in this club on the Makgadikgadi Pans, only wide open spaces and quad bikes for the thrill of your life. After this, enjoy the magical sunset of Botswana before tucking into a braai in the moonlight. When you can’t keep your eyes open, go to sleep in a traditional bedroll while the African stars keep watch. This is magic!
